Grand Knight Report

Brother Knights and families in Christ.

I hope you all had a very good thanksgiving, I know I did !  Thanksgiving is truly one of my favorite holidays for many reasons. Family is the main focus of the occasion and what better reason to bring them all together is food. Everyone contributes at thanksgiving, some bring the pies, and some bring the side dishes.

The same is true with the Knights of Columbus everyone must contribute something. I am proud to say we have had many many hands in the making of our events and programs a success this year. Every event big or small takes a lot of planning. We have done a lot this year from our many Heaven's Helpers programs to our parish activities. Our pancake breakfasts help bring the parish together in friendly chat, creating a strong close knit parish that enjoys being together. All proceeds from our pancake breakfasts always go to a needy cause from hurricane victims to sister Molly's food program.

Outside of our many fund raisers we Knights of Columbus somehow always find time to get together and have fun ! I would like to take a moment to thank all of the individuals that helped make our programs a success this year. I am very proud of our council, one of the reasons we are so successful is we enjoy being together. If I took the time and ink to name all of the people involved in our programs you would cry for relief at the end ! You know who you are ! We are a very active council and what's amazing is it's not work. When people see our awards on the wall they say wow you guys really work hard here ! But it's truly not like that. I quickly reply NO that's how much we have fun together on the wall ! Whether we are moving furniture for father woody's new facility, or standing in front of King Soopers asking for donations for the intellectually handicapped. We always chat and exchange jokes and friendly conversation as we do whatever we do as proud Knights of Columbus.

My brother Knights, keep doing what you are doing for the community, if it's street road clean up or giving blood for bonfils blood center at our parish. Our feet may get tired but our heart grows stronger knowing we are doing something good. You are my un spoken hero's. Thanks for all you did, you do, and will do, this next year,  you are great ! Never stop serving Jesus Christ in this world we live in. Please call me if you need additional information on any one of our programs or activities this next month and would like to be involved!

Vivat Jesus

Knights join parish with honor guard at confirmation

On November 12th. The Knights of Columbus (Matthew Rock, Mike Hartman, Pat Francalancia, Bill Poska, Ted Polito, Stu Schreiner, Kevin Vasina, Ed Mally, Kaleb Archer, and Dan Murphy) participated in the confirmation mass for the new forty nine confirmandi. The students have been going to classes for months to prepare themselves for this prestigious sacrament. During the training of this sacrament the students pray for the gifts from the Holy Spirit. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are knowledge, understanding, wisdom, courage, right judgement, reverence, and wonder & awe. The very reverend Randy Dollins did take the opportunity to briefly quiz the young students during the mass. It was refreshing to see how knowledgeable the young students were under pressure. These types of occasions help us realize that our church does have many young people growing in our catholic religion and what a bright future our faith has. May God bless them all!

Salsa Sales Sizzle

When Gary Tuka raised his hand and said “How about selling salsa to parishioners to raise funds for the Houston Flood victims” little did he know that we would be doing it on a regular basis and would raise $500 for the flood victims each time we made salsa. Through his efforts and those of hard working individuals (Dave Weigand, Kevin Colborg, David Bender, Joey Tuka, Matt Rock, and Dan Murphy) we changed an idea into a successful reality.

Don’t let your ideas die, bring them up at a meeting and let’s get started making your idea our next success story.

Keep Christ in Christmas

For the 2017 Christmas season, our chairman, Pat Francalancia, sold 107 boxes of Christmas cards. He did it by enlisting help from the knights (Norm Conley and Richard Kedzierski) to carry on while he was out of pocket. He was talking to anyone who would get close at each opportunity making our cause the talk of the parish. Thank you to Pat for effort above and beyond the call of duty to champion our cause to the parish. His dedication to Keep Christ in Christmas is one of the reasons that we are so proud to be knights.

Knights Help with Senior Turkey Dinner

On November16th, the seniors held their annual thanksgiving dinner. The traditional Thanksgiving meal was prepared by Randy Gendill. The Knights were there to clean the dishes and the hall and with all of our pancake breakfast experience we were able to get the job done. A special thank you to the men who gave up their evening to make the night special for our seniors.

Grand Knights Report

Brother Knights and Families in Christ
I pray this message meets you well and in good health.
This beautiful fall season has once again greeted us with an early snowfall that tested the
weakest limbs of our favorite trees we value so much in our yards and neighborhoods. Mother
Nature is constantly weeding out the weak, to be sure that only the strongest survive to meet
the everyday challenges of this world we love and live in.
Let us Knights of Columbus not forget that WE too are asked to meet the challenges of our
parish and community, for we know that WE ARE THE STRONG limbs of our parish and
community.
Henceforth in charity's sweet name raise up the weak and fallen. Sound familiar ?
Our Heaven's Helpers were out in force to help our parishioners with cleanup and removal of
tree limbs after the recent storm. Just as fraternity and unity would have it, we also helped each
other at the end of the day with our own tree branches. This act vividly shows that not only are
we to help others, but we are to help other Knights of Columbus. The next week our Heaven's
Helpers performed our street and road cleanup on 58th avenue with trash bags blowing in the
wind on this very busy street to help keep it clean.
As our outdoor activities season winds down, and brace for the coming winter we turn to our
chili cook off to warm us up inside.
On November 19th we will host our annual chili cook off in the orleans hall at Saint Joan of Arc
parish starting at 1:00. We will need a lot of help planning and preparing for this fun event.
Attend our council meeting on November 8th at 7:00 we will discuss the details of the chili cook
off. So get involved and volunteer to make your best chili and possibly win a prize at the end of
the nite for the best chili, an award well cherished around these parts of town.
We will watch a football game and enjoy the best recipes of our parish. Green and red chili
recipes are welcome. No peanut oil in any recipe is required. This is a great event to get to
know some of our new Knights who have recently joined us. Come and sit in casual
conversation with a smile and a warm bowl of chili.
Till we chat again, don't let ol man winter get you down, and enjoy the sunny days we have here in
Colorado.

Knights Rally to Help Birthline

On September 25th, the heaven’s helpers went to help out Claire Wahl and Birthline by transporting a semi full of clothes and baby goods. The Knights (Paul Moser, Ken Dresel, Harry and Shirley Plummer, Norm Conley, Jim Kautzman, Rich Kedzierski, and Jeff Isenhart) put in a full day’s work doing God’s work.

Then Claire called and said all those items mean that we need to clean out the garage and organize it. So once again a crew of knights (Rich Kedzierski, Gary Tuka, Bill Poska, Chris Newton, and Jeff Isenhart) championing the prolife cause went out and helped Claire.

A great big thank you to this crew for standing up to be counted in the fight for life.

Priests and Deacons

It is always appropriate to reflect on our mission as Knights, to practice our faith and support our clergy. Without our priests and deacons we could not attend daily or Sunday Mass. Without them and their direction we would lose our way and be swept up in a culture of ME where self-sacrifice, love of fellow man, the respect and dignity of the individual are lost. When you see a member of the clergy this month, thank them for their sacrifice and for their dedication.

Knights at Memorial Mass

The annual Memorial Day mass held by the archdiocese of Denver mortuary at mount Olivet cemetery on May 30th was a beautiful outdoor mass. The Gallagher chapel at mount Olivet is constructed of large concrete brick with the alter setting up high upon with the most reverend Samuel J Aquila delivered his message, a good lesson of charity and heaven. Twenty eight Knights of Columbus in regalia were in attendance to usher the Archbishop up to the altar and at the end of mass escort him from the altar. If you have never attended this particular mass on Memorial Day I highly encourage you to set your calendar to attend next year. It is quite inspiring to hear the word of god with large hawks circling above and sunshine on your shoulder. It is obviously a great thing to be a fourth degree knight but also a great honor to be in regalia at so many of these events. If you are interested in obtaining regalia please contact Sean Murphy or Matthew Rock and we can let you know where to get regalia.

Sometimes we forget to say thank you to those who are always there giving their best. One of those people is Pat Francalancia. In fact, Pat has said that if they wanted an honor guard at 7-11 he would be there to represent the Knights.

The dedication that Pat has shown through the years is a fine example that we all can try to attain, but until we get there, let’s be sure to thank Pat for all his effort and the fine example he sets for us.

Dominican Home Health Agency

Thank YOU for your AMAZING Support!

DHHA is abundantly blessed by so many friends without whom this mission would not continue.

The outpouring of participation in this year's GIVE65 Campaign has been incredible and we are so very thankful.

For the second year in a row, DHHA is the winner of the $10,000 financial reward for having the highest number of donors in its budget category.

The GIVE65 Campaign raised close to $30,000!

These funds make it possible for DHHA to continue the In-Home Nursing Program, providing loving care to the poor, sick elderly with dignity and respect.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Mary and Her Knights Help out Wherever Needed

Heaven’s helpers are back on the streets, helping parishioner, Dorothy Pokorny whose husband passed away this year.

The knights (Sean Murphy, Kevin Colborg, Paul Moser, Scott Ludwig, Jim Kautzman, Harry Plummer, Kevin Colborg, Paul Moser, Richard Kedzierski, Dave and Dennis Fox, Dan Murphy, and Jeff Isenhart) went to complete the move. The knights are always ready to help a parishioner in need, combining for 40 hours of charity work.  Thanks to the one who puts all these projects together, Jeff Isenhart.
