Salsa Sales
The council typically holds between 4 and 5 Salsa Sales events per year. Funds are accumulated and typically dispersed once or twice per year to as many as three or four organizations serving victims of disaster. We do not identify recurring beneficiaries, but instead send donations based on disasters that have occured over the preceding year. |
Objectives |
Salsa Sales are used to aid disaster relief victims. In addition, the making of the salsa is an opportunity to engage in fraternal activity for our membership and their families. |
Funding |
Net proceeds from the sales of salsa include not only the revenue from each sale, but also donations of materials and donations from individuals who tell us to “keep the change”. |
Funds dispersal |
100% of net proceeds are dispersed for disaster relief victims. After sufficient funds have been accumulated, the officers review potential candidates for donation based on recent disasters. This typically happens once per year. The amount of donation per disaster relief effort depends on how many beneficiaries are chosen in a given year. Excess funds in a given cycle of giving are forwarded for the next disaster relief donation. |
