What is the Fourth Degree?

The Fourth Degree is the final step in your quest for full knighthood in the Knights of Columbus. The Visable Arm of the Knights of Columbus. This Degree is founded on the principle of Patriotism (love for and devotion to one’s country). Patriotism is the fourth pillar of our organization, in addition to Charity, Unity and Fraternity that were featured in the First, Second and Third Degrees. Patriotism is the primary focus of the Fourth Degree Exemplification and ongoing Fourth Degree activities.

The Fourth Degree provides an opportunity to publicly demonstrate our commitment to supporting our Faith, our Order and proudly serving our Country. The Fourth Degree Color Corps / Honor Guard is an elective division of the Fourth Degree. Examples of the highly visible role of the Color Guard are the Honor Guards at church for Funerals, First Communions and Confirmations. The tuxedo, chapeau, cape and sword worn by the Color Corps were inspired by 19th century naval uniforms, with different cape colors representing (9) different program ranks. The ceremonial sword symbolizes Christian Knighthood and is carried to signify reverence to the Church, Eucharist, Country and Freedom. Color Corps wear the colors with pride, knowing that they represent the very best of the Knights of Columbus.

Who Can Join?

Any Third Degree Knight in good standing is eligible to become a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

What is a Fourth Degree Assembly?

Our Fourth Degree Assembly #2409 is comprised of Fourth Degree members from (4) surrounding councils, Saint Joan of Arc Council #12392, Spirit of Christ Council #12979, Saint Ann's Council, and Saint Peter and Paul Council #13961. The Officers at the Assembly level are led by the Faithful Navigator.
