Recent Giving
Between the generosity of our patrons at the April 2022 Burrito/Pancake Breakfast/Sale, some excess funds from previous breakfasts and a $500 donation from the Spirit of Christ Council, we were blessed to make a donation of $3000 to support widows, orphans and displaced persons in the Nigerian Diocese of Sokoto, which has been experiencing great instability.
The March 2022 Burrito/Pancake Breakfast/Sale had a good turn out and raised about $1900 to be used to support Vocations and Missions.
The February 2022 Burrito/Pancake Breakfast/Sale had a great turn out for Sister Molly and raised more than $2700 to be used to support her programs with Migrant Workers. Combined with excess funds from other fundraisers, the council donated $3500 to United Migrant Workers to support their fantastic work.
The January 2022 Salsa Sales were once again successful because of the generosity of our parishioners and visitors. We raised more than $1400 to be used for the Marshall Fire Relief Fund. An additional $500 in gift cards were donated by one individual.
The January 2022 Burrito/Pancake Breakfast/Sale was a rousing success. Once again, our parishioners and visitors were very generous and we raised more than $3600 to be used for the Marshall Fire Relief Fund.
On December 31, 2021, the council donated (50) $50 Walmart gift cards for distribution to Marshall Fire victims via the St Louis council in Louisville. The funds came from our Disaster Relief Fund accumulated through Salsa Sales.
The Santa Breakfast was a great success in Parish participation which included a Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest (judging will be in January). Many donations were received and green chili sales went well. The money collected has been used to purchase a new Christmas tree for St Joan of Arc.
Thanks to all those who participated in our December Burrito/Pancake Breakfast. Proceeds will be going to the St Joan of Arc Giving Tree Program.
Thanks to all those who purchased Christmas cards and items during our Keep Christ in Christmas Sale! 2021 is marked a fantastic recovery from 2020!
The November 6 & 7, Burrito/Pancake Breakfast and To-go Burritos was another great success with attendance at the breakfast returning to pre-Covid levels. Thanks to the great discount we received on sleeping bags from Arvada Army Navy Surplus, and generous community support we exceeded our goal for covering our Sleeping Bag Drive donation.
We contributed $3000 to Matoso Complex Academy through Deacon Hugh and His Work Foundation.
The October 3 Burrito/Pancake Breakfast and Burritos To-go was a successful restart to this community activity with about 150 people attending. To-go burrito sales remained brisk with over 450 burritos sold. Much of the net proceeds go to the St Joan of Arc Baby Shower.
Once again, thanks to the generosity of the community, the Sleeping Bag Drive is a success and we were able to delivery 129 sleeping bags to various locations.
The Sept 25 Oktoberfest was a rousing success that generated nearly $1900 in proceeds for Hope House of Colorado to empower teen moms.
September 11th and 12th netted more than $2700 toward the donation of three sets of Law Enforcement Protective equipment for the Arvada Police Department. This was supplemented from excess funds from previous Burrito Sales.
June 5th and 6th netted enough to donate $1000 to Sts Peter & Paul School for their East Campus Development project transforming their aged and deteriorating parking lot playground into a safe recreational facility for the students.
May 1st and 2nd netted enough to donate over $1000 to Catholic Charities Pro-life mission for the purchase of diapers.We were also able to provide free Burritos, Mother's Day cards, and flower seed packets to 150 mothers.
Net proceeds for Burrito/Pancake Breakfasts above our goal allow us to add some funds to reserves for future unplanned donations particularly to help vocations, missions, and other community opportunities that arise through the year.
Our council is very pleased to have had the opportunity to provide monetary aid to St Joseph's Church in the Diocese of Sokoto in the Ecclesiastical province of Kaduna in Nigeria.
Brother Knight James Mino put us in contact with Father Habila Meyere to provide assistance after a storm severely damaged St Joseph's Church. At first it appeared like a collapsed roof was to be repaired. However, further inspection revealed that a complete rebuild of the church was required.
